A Stoccarda la prima mondiale di “Alice”, il balletto con la colonna sonora firmata da Antongiulio Galeandro, Assurd, Enza Pagliara

Fiore all’occhiello della produzione coreutica tedesca, la Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart debutta domani, presso la Theaterhaus di Stoccarda con la prima mondiale di Alice, un nuovissimo lavoro firmato per l’ensemble da uno dei coreografi italiani più illustri e apprezzati all’estero: Mauro Bigonzetti. Liberamente ispirata all’intramontabile racconto di Lewis Carroll, Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie (1865), testo molto amato dai coreografi della scena attuale che ne hanno rivendicato la natura per nulla innocente, il nuovo lavoro di Bigonzetti si caratterizza per la splendida colonna sonora firmata da Antongiulio Galeandro, Assurd, ed Enza Pagliara con cui il coreografo ha già collaborato per “Cantata” e “Pietra Viva”, due coreografie entrate nel repertorio della Gauthier Dance.

“E’ l’immaginazione – dichiara Bigonzetti – che ci rende liberi. Liberi di entrare nella tana di un coniglio bianco e di incontrare le creature più strane. Liberi di giocare con le nostre paure e fantasie. Liberi di pensare e sentire quello che ci pare”.

Questo senso di libertà ha ispirato anche la colonna sonora che, muovendosi sulle orme di Carroll, si muove attraverso territori sonori differenti che spaziano dai ritmi e dalle sonorità della tradizione musicale dell’Italia Meridionale, alla world music, fino a toccare il jazz e la musica sperimentale.

Il risultato è un opera di grande suggestione in cui Bigonzetti con le musiche di Antongiulio Galeandro, Assurd, ed Enza Pagliara è riuscito a dar sfogo a tutta la sua creatività, dando vita ad un mondo fantastico e surreale, in cui lo spettatore viene catturato dalle bizzarre avventure di Alice, l’eccellente danzatrice della compagnia Anna Süheyla Harms, affiancato da un team di fedeli collaboratori .  Le videoscenografie dello spettacolo sono di OOOPSTUDIO (Marco Noviello e Alessandro Grisendi – http://www.ooopstudio.it) oltre che di Cerri. It is the power of imagination which makes man free. Free to creep into a rabbit hole and encounter the strangest creatures. Free to shift our size and shape. Free to act out our fears and fantasies. Free to think and feel just what we like.
If anyone gave expression to this exhilarating, anarchic freedom it was Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. His masterpiece of 1865 – which is by no means exclusively a children’s novel – has fascinated generations of readers and keeps inspiring artists of any genre to produce their own Alice interpretations.

The Italian star choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti is also ready to follow the white rabbit. His full-length piece Alice will see its world première at Theaterhaus Stuttgart in June 2014, in cooperation with Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart, one of Germany’s most prolific dance companies.

Bigonzetti is attracted by the hallucinatory atmosphere of Alice, the game of infinite possibilities, images, sounds and incidents. He wants to explore this curious, topsy-turvy world together with the marvellous dancers of Gauthier Dance and has already found his ideal leads – in the plural typical of Bigonzetti – for the title role. The choreographer frequently casts several performers for one part in order to work out the different aspects of a character. A concept which goes particulary well with Alice as both the novel and the personage oscillate between comedy and drama, between the fear of the otherworld and the amusement at its whimsical inhabitants.

With her strong technique, sensitive stage presence and flaming red hair, company member Anna Süheyla Harms seems predestined for the adventures in Bigonzetti’s Wonderland. The more so as she was recently awarded a most prestigious seal of approval: In a glamorous gala at Schiller Theater Berlin, Anna Harms received the German Theatre Prize THE FAUST 2013 in the category Performer Dance. She is joined on stage by Garazi Perez Oloriz who is to dance the “serious” Alice. After all, she more than proved her suitability for dramatic roles right in her very first season with Gauthier Dance when she charmed both the audience and Emperor Nero as the scheming but irresistible lead in Christian Spuck’s POPPEA//POPPEA.

The artistic partners at Bigonzetti’s side share a long history with him – the set and light designer Carlo Cerri and a seasoned musical team: As composers and eventually live on stage, Antongiulio Galeandro, Enza Pagliara and the fabulous singers of Assurd – Cristina Vetrone, Enza Prestia und Lorella Monti – will draw on the diverse heritage of authentic, raw folk music to bring true passion to the theatre, just like they did in the successful Bigonzetti-Gauthier Dance production Cantata. Except that the musicians will play an even bigger part as performers than in Cantata.

The realm of fantasy Bigonzetti has in mind will be as intense and rough as the music. No softened, poetic dreamspace but solid, tangible, if dislocated reality. Bizarre, frightening, enchantingly beautiful, surprising and overwhelming. It is thus no wonder but only logical that Bigonzetti hopes his audience will feel that they are witnesses to real actions – albeit actions on the other side of the looking-glass…

Es ist die Vorstellungskraft, die uns Menschen frei macht. Frei, in ein Kaninchenloch zu kriechen und die merkwürdigsten Kreaturen zu treffen. Frei, unsere Größe und unsere Gestalt zu wechseln. Frei, unsere Ängste und Fantasien durchzuspielen. Frei, das zu denken und zu fühlen, was uns beliebt.

Wenn jemand dieser berauschenden, dieser anarchischen Freiheit Ausdruck verliehen hat, dann Lewis Carroll mit Alice`s Adventures in Wonderland. Der beileibe nicht nur Kinder-Roman von 1865 zählt unzweifelhaft zur Weltliteratur. Bis heute hat er Generationen von Lesern fasziniert – und Künstler sämtlicher Genres zu jeweils ganz eigenen Alice-Interpretationen inspiriert.

Nun wird auch der italienische Star-Choreograph Mauro Bigonzetti dem weißen Kaninchen folgen. Sein abendfüllendes Tanzstück Alice hat am 25. Juni 2014 am Theaterhaus Stuttgart Premiere, kreiert für das Theaterhaus-Ensemble Gauthier Dance, eine der profiliertesten Tanz-Compagnien Deutschlands.

An Alice reizt Bigonzetti vor allem die halluzinatorische Atmosphäre, das Spiel mit unendlichen Möglichkeiten, Bildern, Klängen und Geschehnissen. Diese bizarre, gleichsam auf den Kopf gestellte Welt will er gemeinsam mit den wundervollen Tänzern von Gauthier Dance erkunden. Für die Partie der Titelheldin hat er seine Idealbesetzungen – im Bigonzetti-typischen Plural – bereits gefunden. Denn der Choreograph besetzt Rollen häufig mit mehreren Darstellern, um die unterschiedlichen Facetten einer Figur herauszuarbeiten. Im Fall von Alice liegt diese Entscheidung besonders nahe. Denn wie der Roman selbst changiert auch ihr Charakter zwischen Komödie und Drama, zwischen dem tiefen Schrecken vor der Anders-Welt und dem Amüsement über deren skurrile Bewohner.

Mit ihrer starken Technik, sensiblen Ausstrahlung und flammend roten Mähne ist Anna Süheyla Harms gleichsam prädestiniert für die Abenteuer in Bigonzettis Wunderland. Selbst das passende offizielle Gütesiegel hat sie schon in der Tasche. Bei einer rauschenden Gala im Schiller Theater Berlin wurde sie im November mit dem renommierten Deutschen Theaterpreis DER FAUST 2013 in der Kategorie Darsteller/Darstellerin Tanz ausgezeichnet. Gemeinsam mit ihr steht Garazi Perez Oloriz auf der Bühne. Garazi Perez Oloriz wird die “ernste” Alice tanzen. Schließlich hat sie ihre Eignung für das dramatische Fach bereits in ihrer ersten Spielzeit bei der Theaterhaus-Company eindrucksvoll unter Beweis gestellt: Als ebenso durchtriebene wie unwiderstehliche Poppea in Christian Spucks POPPEA//POPPEA bezauberte sie nicht nur Kaiser Nero, sondern auch das Publikum von Gauthier Dance.

Außerdem mit im Boot sind künstlerische Partner, mit denen Bigonzetti eine lange Geschichte verbindet: der Bühnenbildner und Lichtdesigner Carlo Cerri, die Kostümbildnerin Helena de Medeiros und ein eingespieltes musikalisches Team. Kompositorisch und dann auch live auf der Bühne schöpfen Antongiulio Galeandro, Enza Pagliara und die fabelhaften Sängerinnen von ASSURD – Cristina Vetrone, Enza Prestia und Lorella Monti – aus den vielfältigen Traditionen der authentischen, ungezähmten Volksmusiken dieser Welt. Die Fünf werden bei jeder Vorstellung den heißen Hauch wahrer Leidenschaft ins Theater tragen – so wie schon bei der überaus erfolgreichen Bigonzetti-Gauthier Dance-Produktion Cantata. Mit dem Unterschied freilich, dass die Musiker als Akteure diesmal sogar noch mehr in das Geschehen einbezogen sein sollen als bei Cantata.

So passioniert-herb wie die Musik ist auch das Fabelreich von Alice, das Bigonzetti vorschwebt. Kein weichgespült-poetischer Ort der Träume, sondern harte, fassbare, wenn auch ver-rückte Wirklichkeit. Fantastisch, erschreckend und hypnotisch schön, überraschend und überwältigend. Es ist daher kein Wunder, sondern nur konsequent, wenn Bigonzetti seinen Zuschauern das Gefühl vermitteln möchte, Zeugen von echten Ereignissen zu sein – freilich von Ereignissen jenseits des Spiegels….
